Thank you always for using Nuita.
We have moved Nuita’s server from the United States to Singapore. While you were all hard at work ejaculating at your desks, the development team was quietly hauling the server back from the far side of the Pacific. The service was down for about 10 minutes, and not a single byte of data was lost.
This move has made Nuita faster, lighter, and cheaper. Today we would like to show you the results, with numbers we actually measured.
Where Was the Server Until Now?
Far, far away, in the United States.
Data on the internet travels at the speed of light. Light, as you may recall, is that famously fastest thing in the universe, capable of circling the earth seven and a half times in a single second. Unfortunately, the vast Pacific Ocean lies between Japan and the United States, and even the fastest thing in the universe needs about 0.2 seconds to make one round trip through the undersea cables. Worse still, displaying a single web page requires that round trip to be repeated over and over. Behind the scenes, while you were on your way to today’s fap material, your data was crossing the Pacific again and again and again.
Our new home in Singapore, by contrast, is about 0.1 seconds per round trip. Exactly half. The sight of the development team staring at a map and nodding gravely at how close it all looked was, frankly, indistinguishable from someone glued to a real-estate listing site the night before moving day.
How Much Faster Is It?
Measuring from Japan, here is how long the server takes to start sending back a response:
- Before the move (server in the United States): about 0.56 seconds
- After the move (new server in Singapore): about 0.25 seconds
That is less than half. Every time you open a page, 0.3 seconds of your life is handed back to you.
Three tenths of a second may not sound like much. But as we have mentioned before, the few minutes right after ejaculation are among the most precious in all of human life. Nuita could not, in good conscience, let a newly enlightened sage spend 0.3 seconds of that sacred interlude staring at a loading screen.
Images Got Lighter, Too
Alongside the move, we also switched on a new system that compresses images before delivering them. The card images shown on links in nweets are now automatically converted to a size and format better suited to how they are actually displayed.
In our measurements, an image that used to be 1.38MB came out at 46KB. That is a reduction of about 97%. In dieting terms, it is the equivalent of a 70kg person coming out at 2.1kg. It is also much kinder to your mobile data allowance, which should make ejaculation reports from out and about that much more comfortable.
Let’s Talk Money
When it comes to moving house, the thing everyone really wants to know about is the cost. Here, too, we will be honest and give you the numbers.
- Before the move: about $60/month
- After the move: about $25/month (projected)
That is a reduction of about 60%, and a saving of roughly $420 a year. Nuita is run without taking a single cent from any of you, so cutting server costs translates directly into a longer life for the service. The money we saved will be devoted to ejaculation… we mean, carefully spent on making Nuita better.
In Closing
The server may have moved, but every one of your nweets and every piece of your fap material has come along with it, untouched. If any of you were unable to hold back during those 10 minutes of downtime and thus missed your chance to report, please record that one on the timeline of your heart.
If Nuita feels a little snappier than usual from today onward, that is because your data no longer has to cross the Pacific. Should you run into any problems, please let us know through the contact form. Thank you for your continued support of Nuita.
