Thank you always for using Nuita.

This time, Nuita has decided to discontinue the “Memo” feature that was implemented last month, and unify post types into “Nweet.”

We have also removed the time restriction on Nweet, and changed some of the wording so you can nweet more casually, anytime.

Reasons for Discontinuation

There are two reasons behind the decision to discontinue the Memo feature.

  1. Fewer users than expected used the Memo feature, and the benefits did not outweigh the drawback of added complexity to the feature and UI.
  2. In UX research targeting non-users, the “Memo” feature was found to be a barrier.

The Memo feature was released on August 8, 2021, and looking at the number of posts up through September 14, the total number of memo posts was 133, which was 5.4% of all posts (2,513).

We deeply thank everyone who used this feature, and we will keep focusing on development so we can better meet similar needs in the future.

About the Changes to Nweet Specifications

Along with discontinuing the “Memo” feature, we have changed some of the specifications of Nweet.

  1. Removed the restriction on posting intervals. Previously, you had to wait 3 minutes after your last post before posting again, but from now on you can post consecutively as many times as you like. However, depending on the interval between posts, they may not appear on the Global Timeline and elsewhere.
  2. Changed some of the wording used on the service. Nweet previously displayed “Ejaculated,” but from now on it will show “Nweet’d” instead. Also, for new users, the wording on the auto-post template to Twitter will also change.

With this change, Nweet becomes more casual, and we hope you’ll continue using Nweet as the equivalent of the former “Memo” feature.

Once again, thank you so much for using the “Memo” feature.

As we also learned from our UX research, it wasn’t clear to users what kind of post they could make with Memo, and we believe this ultimately led to sluggish growth in its usage rate.

Going forward, we hope to unify the types of posts while building an even better Nuita together with all our users.
